We believe great things happen when community gathers together. Our GTCF Community Calendar is a valuable resource for helping bring people together by sharing information about all kinds of events taking place in Pierce County.
From family friendly events to educational opportunities to fundraisers for local nonprofits, you’ll find it all on our Community Calendar.
February was filled with community celebrations. Black History Month events were presented by Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center and the Buffalo Soldiers Museum while Lunar New festivals took place in the Lincoln District and at the Tacoma Dome, hosted by Asia Pacific Cultural Center.
Events focusing on young people and the future of our region were a common thread as well. Community forums like University of Washington Tacoma’s Creating Youth Friendly Cities and TRANSFORM, hosted by Spaceworks and Broadway Center for Performing Arts, offered information and collected feedback about how to improve our public spaces and best utilize them in ways that best meet our needs both now and into the future. Meanwhile, the REACH Center hosted several life skill workshops geared toward young adults.
Looking ahead on the calendar, March is full of family-friendly events like Family Movie Night at the Portland Avenue Community Center, South Tacoma Community Breakfast, weekly Game Nights hosted by Lakewold Gardens, and a Community Sing-a-Long with the Tacoma Refugee Choir. March 15th marks the launch of Pierce County Reads where everyone is invited to join in on reading the same book and participate in discussions and other special events at libraries across the county. Several local nonprofits like Tacoma Rescue Mission, Communities in Schools, and Community Healthcare will be hosting fundraisers to support their work.
Want to share your events on our calendar? We invite local nonprofits, organizations, and individuals to help us keep the Community Calendar up to date by posting their own events to the calendar.
