When did you start working with Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF)?

May 2019

Briefly describe what you do in your role with GTCF

As a philanthropy advisor, I help individuals and families connect philanthropic intention and action.

What is the most exciting part of your role with GTCF?

Helping Fund Advisors connect their individual actions with the collective work of our community.

What other jobs or positions have you held?

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Boston College I served with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and then earned a master’s in School Leadership from Harvard University. I worked in advertising at the Wall Street Journal before transferring to the nonprofit sector and co-founding a full-scholarship Jesuit school for at-risk youth in Chicago. Since arriving in Tacoma in 2003, I’ve served as the founding Executive Director of the Make the Dash Count Foundation, Director of Admissions and Development for Annie Wright Schools, and Philanthropy Director at Tacoma Arts Live.

Outside of GTCF, what enjoyable activity do you engage in? What brings you joy?

I love to climb mountains. Not to conquer them, but to sit small on their summit and reflect on what is truly important in life. I am honored to serve as a lead guide for the Climb for Clean Air.

What activity, place, or event do you recommend other people check out in Pierce County?

Point Defiance.

What is the most inspiring book that you have read and why?
